Player Terms & Conditions

These Player Terms & Conditions (“Player Terms”) govern the registration, selection and participation of players in the Gujarat Cricket League (GCL), organized by Zero Footage Sports Pvt. Ltd.

By registering for GCL, attending trials, participating in the auction or team selection process, accepting selection, or participating in any GCL match or official activity, the player confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Player Terms & Conditions.


1. Player Eligibility & Registration

Players must meet the eligibility criteria specified by GCL for the relevant season.

Players must provide accurate and genuine information during registration and verification.

GCL reserves the right to verify any information or documents submitted by a player.

Providing false, misleading or incomplete information may result in cancellation of registration, disqualification or other disciplinary action.

Registration does not guarantee selection, auction participation, team allocation, match participation or payment.


2. Registration Fees

Any registration fee paid by a player for GCL trials, registration or other official activities is non-refundable, unless GCL expressly announces otherwise in writing.

A player shall not be entitled to a refund merely because:

  • The player is not selected.
  • The player does not participate in a trial.
  • The player is not selected by a team.
  • The player is unavailable to participate.
  • The player is disqualified due to violation of GCL rules.
  • The player withdraws after registration.

GCL may change or discontinue registration processes for operational reasons.


3. Trials & Selection

GCL may conduct trials, screening, shortlisting or other selection processes.

Selection may be based on playing ability, performance, fitness, eligibility, team requirements and other criteria determined by GCL.

Participation in trials does not guarantee selection.

The decision of the authorized GCL selection committee shall be final, subject to applicable league rules and policies.


4. Auction & Team Allocation

Where an auction or official team-selection process is conducted, players shall be governed by the applicable GCL auction and team formation rules.

Once a player is officially allocated or contracted to a team, the player must fulfill the obligations associated with that team.

A player cannot independently change teams, negotiate a transfer, cancel team allocation or participate for another GCL team without following the official GCL process.


5. Player Commitment

Selected players are expected to:

  • Attend all scheduled matches and official activities.
  • Report to the designated venue at the required time.
  • Follow instructions issued by GCL officials and team management.
  • Maintain professional conduct.
  • Represent their team and GCL respectfully.
  • Follow match-day and tournament rules.
  • Remain available for required league activities during the tournament period.

Repeated absence, late arrival or failure to fulfill responsibilities may result in disciplinary action.


6. Photoshoots & Promotional Activities

Players understand that participation in GCL may require involvement in official promotional activities.

Players must attend official team and league photoshoots, media sessions, promotional events, interviews, content shoots and other reasonable promotional activities communicated by GCL or their team management.

Players are expected to cooperate professionally during such activities.

Unreasonable refusal to participate may result in disciplinary action, subject to the circumstances.


7. Player Travel & Accommodation

GCL or the player’s team may provide certain travel, accommodation, food, transportation or other facilities as determined by management.

Players cannot demand additional travel arrangements, upgrades, transportation, accommodation or other facilities beyond those officially provided or communicated by GCL/team management.

Unless specifically agreed in writing, players shall not have an automatic entitlement to:

  • Air travel
  • Premium transportation
  • Hotel upgrades
  • Individual accommodation
  • Additional local transportation
  • Personal travel expenses
  • Travel for family members or guests
  • Any other additional facility

Any travel or facility arrangement communicated by GCL/team management shall be considered the applicable arrangement for the relevant event.


8. Injury, Fitness & Medical Responsibility

Cricket and related sporting activities involve inherent risks, including the possibility of injury.

Players acknowledge that they participate in trials, training, matches and other cricket-related activities with an understanding of these risks.

GCL shall not be responsible for injuries, illness or physical harm suffered by a player during trials, matches, training sessions, travel or other league-related activities, except to the extent that liability cannot legally be excluded.

Players are responsible for informing GCL/team management about any relevant medical or physical condition that may affect their participation.

Players are encouraged to maintain appropriate fitness and obtain suitable personal medical or accident insurance where appropriate.


9. Code of Conduct

Players must maintain professional and respectful behavior on and off the field.

Players must not engage in:

  • Physical violence or fighting.
  • Threatening or abusive behavior.
  • Discriminatory or offensive conduct.
  • Misconduct toward players, officials, staff, team owners or spectators.
  • Deliberate damage to property.
  • Cheating or match manipulation.
  • Conduct that may harm the reputation or integrity of GCL.

GCL may take disciplinary action for any violation.


10. Alcohol, Tobacco, Pan Masala & Prohibited Substances

Players are strictly prohibited from consuming, possessing or using alcohol, pan masala, tobacco products or other prohibited substances during match time or while representing GCL/team at official league activities, subject to applicable law.

Players must not report for a match or official activity under the influence of alcohol or any prohibited substance.

Violation of this rule may result in an immediate fine, suspension or removal from the match/league.


11. Mobile Phones & Electronic Devices

Players must not use mobile phones or other unauthorized electronic devices inside the playing area/ground during match time, except where specifically permitted by GCL officials.

Players may be required to keep their phones with designated team management or at an approved location during match activities.

Any violation may result in a warning, fine or other disciplinary action.


12. Outside Matches During GCL

During the official GCL tournament period, a contracted or selected player cannot participate in any outside cricket match, tournament or competition without prior written approval from GCL management.

This restriction applies during the period specified by GCL for the relevant season.

Players must prioritize their GCL commitments and remain available for scheduled league activities.


13. Sponsorship & Brand Restrictions

Players may have personal, professional or commercial relationships with brands.

However, once a player is contracted/selected for GCL, the player cannot promote, advertise, display or otherwise represent a personal or contracted brand during GCL matches, official team activities or official GCL promotional activities where such promotion conflicts with GCL/team sponsorship arrangements.

This includes, where applicable:

  • Wearing unauthorized branded apparel or accessories.
  • Displaying personal sponsor logos during official activities.
  • Promoting personal brands during GCL match-day activities.
  • Making promotional content associated with GCL without approval.

Players must comply with official GCL and team sponsorship requirements.


14. No Demand for Additional Facilities

Players acknowledge that GCL management determines the facilities and services provided to players.

A player cannot demand additional facilities, special treatment, upgrades or services beyond those officially announced or provided by GCL/team management.

Management may consider reasonable requests but is not obligated to provide additional facilities.


15. Player Fees & Payment

Where a player is entitled to a match fee, player fee, prize, allowance or other payment, the applicable amount and payment conditions shall be communicated separately.

GCL reserves the right to withhold, reduce, suspend or stop payment of player fees or other amounts payable to a player where permitted under the applicable agreement/rules, including in cases of:

  • Breach of GCL rules.
  • Unauthorized absence.
  • Failure to fulfill contractual commitments.
  • Serious misconduct.
  • Disqualification.
  • Damage caused to GCL/team property.
  • Participation in unauthorized outside matches.
  • Violation of sponsorship obligations.
  • Other serious violations of these Player Terms.

Any withholding or deduction shall be subject to applicable law and the player’s applicable agreement.


16. Fines & Penalties

GCL may impose fines or other disciplinary penalties for violations of league rules, player obligations or the code of conduct.

Where a fine is imposed, the amount may be deducted from any player fee, payment, prize or other amount payable to the player, where permitted by the applicable agreement and law.

Serious violations may result in suspension or disqualification in addition to a fine.


17. Damage to Property

Players are responsible for any intentional, reckless or unauthorized damage caused by them to:

  • GCL property
  • Team property
  • Venue property
  • Equipment
  • Accommodation facilities
  • Transportation facilities
  • Sponsor or partner property

Where a player is responsible for such damage, GCL/team management may recover the reasonable cost of repair or replacement from the player, including by deduction from amounts payable to the player where permitted by applicable law and agreement.


18. Match & Playing Rules

Players must follow all official GCL playing rules, tournament regulations and match-day instructions.

Players must respect the decisions of match officials and authorized GCL officials.

Any attempt to deliberately violate, manipulate or bypass league rules may result in disciplinary action.


19. Match Integrity & Anti-Corruption

GCL has zero tolerance for:

  • Match-fixing.
  • Spot-fixing.
  • Deliberate match manipulation.
  • Unauthorized betting-related activity.
  • Attempting to influence the outcome of a match.
  • Sharing confidential match information for improper purposes.

Players must immediately report any suspicious approach, offer or activity relating to match manipulation or prohibited betting activity to GCL management.

Serious violations may result in immediate suspension or disqualification and may be reported to appropriate authorities where required.


20. Media, Photography & Content Rights

Players acknowledge that GCL matches, trials, promotional activities and other official events may be photographed, recorded, streamed and broadcast.

GCL and its authorized partners may use a player’s:

  • Name
  • Photograph
  • Image
  • Voice
  • Interviews
  • Playing footage
  • Performance information
  • Team-related content

for legitimate league, promotional, editorial, broadcasting, marketing and archival purposes, subject to applicable law and relevant agreements.

Such content may be published on GCL’s website, social media channels, YouTube, broadcasts, promotional materials and other official platforms.


21. Social Media Conduct

Players may maintain their personal social media accounts but must not knowingly publish false or misleading information concerning GCL, their team, players, officials, sponsors or league activities.

Players must not disclose confidential GCL/team information, internal communications or restricted information without authorization.

Players must also comply with reasonable official social-media and promotional requirements communicated by GCL/team management.


22. Confidentiality

Players may receive confidential information relating to:

  • Teams
  • Auctions
  • Player fees
  • Contracts
  • Team strategy
  • Internal communications
  • League operations
  • Sponsors
  • Other players

Players must not disclose confidential information without authorization, except where disclosure is required by law.


23. Team Changes & Transfers

A player cannot independently change teams, withdraw from a selected team, participate for another GCL team or arrange a transfer.

Any release, replacement, transfer or team change must follow the official GCL process and receive the required approval.


24. Disqualification & Removal

GCL reserves the right to suspend, disqualify or remove a player for serious or repeated violations of these Player Terms & Conditions or applicable GCL rules.

Grounds may include:

  • False information or documents.
  • Serious misconduct.
  • Breach of league rules.
  • Unauthorized outside participation.
  • Alcohol, tobacco or prohibited-substance violations during official activities.
  • Match manipulation or integrity violations.
  • Repeated absence.
  • Failure to attend required official activities.
  • Unauthorized brand promotion.
  • Damage to property.
  • Conduct damaging to the reputation or integrity of GCL.

Depending on the circumstances, GCL may issue a warning, impose a fine, withhold applicable payments, suspend the player, remove the player from a match or disqualify the player from the league.


25. GCL Management Authority

GCL management reserves the right to take reasonable decisions necessary for the organization and administration of the league, including decisions relating to:

  • Player eligibility
  • Trials
  • Team selection
  • Auction
  • Match schedules
  • Venues
  • Player participation
  • Discipline
  • Fines
  • Team changes
  • League operations
  • Promotional activities

Players agree to comply with official instructions issued by authorized GCL officials.


26. Changes to Player Terms

GCL may update these Player Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in league rules, operations, legal requirements or other circumstances.

The applicable version for a particular season may be published on the official GCL website or communicated through official channels.

Players are responsible for reviewing the applicable rules and terms.


27. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, accepting selection in, or participating in GCL, the player confirms that:

  • The information provided is accurate and genuine.
  • They have read and understood these Player Terms & Conditions.
  • They agree to follow all GCL rules and official instructions.
  • They agree to attend required matches, photoshoots and promotional activities.
  • They understand the restrictions relating to outside matches, sponsorships and match-day conduct.
  • They understand that violations may result in fines, withholding of payments, suspension, disqualification or other disciplinary action.
  • They agree to conduct themselves professionally throughout their association with GCL.

Important

These Player Terms & Conditions establish the general framework for player participation in GCL.

Season-specific rules relating to registration, trials, auction, team formation, player retention, RTM, squad composition, match rules, player fees, prizes and other matters may be issued separately and shall apply in addition to these Player Terms & Conditions.
